Trump’s Climate Crime Against Humanity

“The Trump administration has asked NASA employees to draw up plans to end at least two major satellite missions, according to current and former NASA staffers. If the plans are carried out, one of the missions would be permanently terminated, because the satellite would burn up in the atmosphere.
The data the two missions collect are widely used, including by scientists, oil and gas companies and farmers who need detailed information about carbon dioxide and crop health. They are the only two federal satellite missions that were designed and built specifically to monitor planet-warming greenhouse gases.” (NPR August 4, 2025).
Among all crimes Trump has committed and continues to commit on a daily basis, the reversal of US policies on climate change stands out because of its long-term irreversible effects on all of humanity.
In a perfect world, these acts alone should land him in the International Court of Justice in The Hague. Preposterous as the talk about a Nobel peace prize to this scoundrel is, such prize would cancel out to zero when the abominable effects of his climate policies are weighted in.
One of the first acts of the Trump second regime has been the withdrawal from the Paris Agreement which, although nonbinding, nevertheless signaled a commitment of many nations to take measures that would curb activities leading to Global Warming. Besides the terrible direct effect of this withdrawal, there is an indirect effect on the motivation of other nations to follow through with their pledges: if the USA, one of the major polluters doesn’t give a damn, why should we care?
At an earlier juncture in my career, before I thought I’d be successful in what I was doing, I applied for jobs in climate science since warnings were voiced as early as 1970. My rationale was that with my knowledge and experience in image processing, the best field of application was in the analysis of Landsat satellite images monitoring air quality and pollution worldwide. These job applications went nowhere, probably because my background in environmental science was nil. But to this day I have a particular affection for satellite imagery and its benefits in the global fight against Global Warming, and the idea someone would have the audacity and cold-heartedness, nay viciousness, to destroy them makes my blood boil.
