The human touch
.
We are all flooded by AI-related messages. There is no conference where the subject of AI is not elevated to a panel discussion. Like lemmings, we jump over the cliff of rational accountability. The experts who created chatGPT and similar contraptions of generative AI recoil from their Frankenstein products, but it is apparently too late.
I received this message a couple of days ago:
.
“Good day,
In today’s competitive landscape, small business owners and entrepreneurs are consistently seeking ways to streamline operations, drive innovation, and achieve growth that stands the test of time. With this in mind, I would love the opportunity to write an article that shares an array of effective strategies tailored to help them successfully navigate these challenges.
The article I’m working on will cover essential topics such as fostering innovation, establishing effective communication with both clients and employees, maintaining a well-organized workflow, and much more. The goal is to provide small business owners with practical tips they can put into action right away, yielding tangible benefits.
Would you be interested in considering this piece for publication on your website?
Looking forward to your response!
All my best,
Mark Tanner, Content Creator, localis.ai“

Here is the way they advertise themselves:
“At Localis.ai, the content creation process starts with our team of skilled writers who carefully research and curate local news and events from around your area. We feed this curated content into our proprietary AI algorithms, which use machine learning and natural language processing to generate unique, engaging articles that are optimized both for search engines AND social media platforms.
Once the AI-generated content is complete, it is sent back to a team of human editors who review and refine the articles to ensure that they are accurate, informative, and engaging. This human touch helps to ensure that the final product is of the highest quality and meets the specific needs of each client.”
.
The “human touch” brings it over the edge. I thought it is hilarious. The human consumer (I in this case) is being assured that the content is not just artificially created; far from it, it is also touched by the remnants of human intelligence. This final touch is supposed to make the artifice acceptable to us.
This begs the question for whom or for which this “content” is actually created. Is it created for the consumption by me or in fact by another AI agent under my purview? How is “content” created? By stealing other content?
How can people be content with this kind of content?
