Bottle Caps

It must have happened to you, too.

You walk south in Hudson River Park, along the bank of the river with its glittering water.

It gets hot in the sun, and at first you don’t want to acknowledge the inconvenience since you have not done this for a long time, and why let this silly weakness interfere with your walk?

But then comes the point where you come to decide to actively flee into the shaded areas, taking the upper path which is generously seamed by trees.

This is where you find a bench in the shade.  A bench is an invitation to contemplate the surroundings, and your eye falls on a bottle cap buried in the dirt right in front of you.

And then, instinctively, you look for more; a bottle cap is never, ever single, and indeed there are the companions in their healthy variety, no two are the same, it is utterly amazing!
