A Way to Get Rid of All Mice

.

Mice and rats are difficult to spot. They have developed the gray color as camouflage so they cannot be made out easily in subways. Genetically engineered, glowing mutants have been developed, thanks to the invention of GFP, green fluorescent protein.

My recommendation would be to breed ten thousand glowing mice and the same number of rats, and release them on a moonless night in lower Manhattan, so the initial scattering of the animals can be easily followed.

Interbreeding with the wild-type animals — assuming the two varieties still recognize and desire each other — will lead to a rapid dissemination of the glowing variety, making in the end every single individual of the pest easily spottable.

Problem solved!
