Pointillism in Real Life

.

A photograph I took at the Orchid Show in the New York Botanical Garden, a few weeks ago.  Thousands of little plants floating in a basin.  Above it in the picture an area of the most delicate moss.

This confusion between the appearance of reality and art reminds me of the work by Alexa Meade, an artist whom I met around the same time.  She produces works of art in which painted real people in painted real interiors appear like a two-dimensional painting on a canvass.

Her show, Immersed in Wonderland (immersedinwonderland.com), was scheduled to open on March 14, 2020 in New York, but unfortunately it had to be postponed in compliance with the Mayor’s COVID-19 decree in public gatherings.
